What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a cannabis compound that has significant medical benefits, but does not make people feel “stoned. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid. It has a relaxing and sedative effect. It can relieve tensions and pains but in a milder way than the classic marijuana. CBD is particularly versatile and can be used for medicinal purposes such as the reduction of inflammation, diabetes, can help treat alcoholism, schizophrenia but also rheumatoid arthritis and cardiovascular diseases. It is an excellent antipsychotic and painkiller especially when muscle spasms cause pain. CBD can stimulate and activate adenosine receptors. These receptors are intended to regulate cardiovascular functions and blood flow within the coronary arteries by relieving important symptoms such as anxiety, shortness of breath and stiffness at the level of the chest. The same substance present in legal cannabis can also stimulate the production of glutamate and dopamine. The latter is responsible for all the positive sensations that the human body has and can positively influence sleep and greatly improve both the mood and the concentration capacity of an individual.

Beneficial effects of CBD Cannabidiol is the second most abundant substance in Cannabis Sativa and is not psychoactive. Scientific studies have amply demonstrated its beneficial effects on the body while other research is still under way to prove other important functions on the human body.

CBD buffers the psychoactive effects of THC. Regular consumers of non-legal cannabis know very well that THC can in the long run generate panic attacks and very acute moments of anxiety. The CBD effectively counteracts this effect of the psychoactive substance by generating a sedative and relaxing effect, eliminates tremors and slows the heart rate accelerated by THC.

Another beneficial effect of CBD is the reduction of inflammation and pain. According to what was published in 2012 in the scientific journal Journal of Experiment Medicine, cannabidiol could annihilate chronic inflammatory pain. Some consumers of therapeutic cannabis have testified that food supplements using CBD are particularly effective in decreasing inflammatory symptoms combined with chronic pain.

Over the last two years it has been widely demonstrated on a scientific level that CBD can significantly reduce two important forms of anxiety, such as obsessive compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress caused by stress. There is a strong relationship between cannabinoids and the symptoms of anxiety. Cannabinoids can be used to treat important physical and mental compulsions, but in this case the product used must have a high CBD content compared to a low THC percentage.

Cannabidiol is a particularly effective substance to use as an antipsychotic. Scientific tests have shown that it could be used to treat patients with schizophrenia and other very serious mental health problems. Among the various symptoms that alleviate cannabidiol there is nausea that sometimes degenerates into vomiting. The oils based on this substance can quickly reduce the feeling of nausea and have a high degree of digestibility. They have the advantage of not containing the unpleasant taste that characterizes a little all antiemetic drugs containing bismunto and antacids.

It has been recently discovered that CBD is also an excellent anticonvulsant. According to a recent study of the sector, it is particularly effective in the therapies that are carried out to treat even infantile epilepsy such as that caused by Dravet's syndrome.

CBD is a good anti-inflammatory and can inhibit lipid synthesis. This is why it is effective for fighting acne: it acts directly on the sebaceous glands and prevents the pores from becoming inflamed. Among the various ongoing research related to the benefits of using CBD there are those aimed at understanding whether they can reduce the tumor masses and inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells. The cannabinoids have the characteristic of binding to the endocannabinoid system receptors succeeding in obstructing the formation of new metastases in the body. The potential applications of cannabis sativa in the treatment of tumors are many but still need to be tested and studied for a long time.
